This single-village mezcal from Cdigo 1530 is made in Oaxaca from a combination of espadn and tobala magueys. The agave hearts have been roasted in an earthen oven and the juice extracted with a traditional tahona. After distillation with a copper alembic still, this mezcal rested in French oak barrels that once held sauvignon blanc from Napa Valley. A superb mezcal for sipping, or for a special twist on classic cocktails.

Nose: Floral, light woody vanilla.

Palate: Notes of mandarin orange citrus, dark cherry, hints of earth, stone, clay, and delicate smoke.
