Description:
What a natural and beautiful sound. Brahms' Symphony No. 2 and University Celebration Overture wielded with all his might by the master Blomstedt! Herbert Blomstedt was born in 1927. Born in 1927, Herbert Blomstedt is the oldest living master of the Brahms symphony project, which he is recording live with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra. This album includes Symphony No. 2 and the Overture to the University Celebration. Blomstedt was Chef of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra for seven years from 1998 to 2005, and since then he has regularly appeared on the podium as the orchestra's Honorary Conductor, earning him great trust. In contrast to the First Symphony, the Second Symphony is a stretchy, pastoral symphony, but Brahms himself said, "I have never written anything so sad," and this masterpiece is a natural expression of his inner thoughts. The coupling is the University Celebration Overture, which Brahms himself called "a potpourri of suppe style. Blomstedt brought out the colorfulness of the orchestra in this full-bodied performance. The strings were especially beautiful, and the conductor, whose career spans more than 60 years, gave a soulful performance that seemed to bring life to the piece. The performance time of Symphony No. 2 is as follows: 1st movement: 21'04, 2nd movement: 9'37, 3rd movement: 5'04, 4th movement: 9'06=44'51. King International
