Description:
The world of Mahler's Dvok: The highly anticipated Dvok SACD Hybrid disc by Flor and the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. The long-awaited second Dvok concert by the Malaysian Philharmonic, popular for its bombastic performances, is the Symphony No. 8. It is the most refreshingly attractive of Dvok's symphonies, but Flor's interpretation of the work is intriguing because of its close resemblance to Mahler. Even more interesting is the symphonic poem "The Golden Spinning Wheel." Based on a poem by Karel Erben, it is a far cry from its fairy-tale title, with a girl dismembered and murdered by her greedy stepmother, her rebirth by a magician, and her stepsister hiding a severed leg. Flor and Malaysian Phil give eerie performances. King International
